Aklan towns to display price bulletin boards

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -- Four Aklan towns will soon display price bulletin boards in their public markets so people will be aware of current prices of basic goods ancd commodities in their respective areas.

These towns, according to Department of Trade and Industyr (DTI) Aklan Provincial Director Diosdado O. Cadena are Altavas, Kalibo, Banga and Malay.

Cadena disclosed this during the Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council (PLPCC) meeting held last week at the Provincial Guest House here.

Cadena said this came as a result of their recent meetings with local government units in the province, intended to organize the towns’ Municipal Price Coordinating Council (MPCC).

As a result, Banga town is the latest to have an organized council, which even sent a representative to the PLPCC to update the group on roadside selling of pork which had been discussed in past meetings.

Kalibo’s town mayor, William Lachica, also sent a representative.

According to representatives of Kalibo and Banga LGUs, their respective municipalities’ lack of ordinance impedes them to regulate selling of said commodity.

These vendors’ location, however, are already identified and it was suggested by the body that the vendors should sell in cluster for better regulation and monitoring, after securing proper clearances and permits and ensuring that the meat sold are branded and obtained from slaughterhouses.
