Awarding of Iloilo's outstanding pupils, students set

Iloilo City (12 March) -- Pupils and students who made it to the search for the Ten Outstanding Elementary Pupils (TOEP) and Ten Outstanding Secondary School Students (TOSSS) of Iloilo for academic year 2009-2010 will be awarded and recognized in a fitting ceremony on March 19, 2010 at the Monfort Hall of the Department of Education, Lapaz, Iloilo City.

Dr. Raymundo Lapating, Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iloilo Schools Division Superintendent will lead the presentation of the citations and awards to the schools, coaches and the twenty awardees.

Leading this year's awardees are Leo Emmanuel Sombiro of Solomon Integrated School de Iloilo for the elementary level and Bryan Eric Cerebo of Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive High School for the secondary level.

Sombiro was named as the Most Outstanding Elementary Pupil and Cerebo as the Most Outstanding Secondary School Student of Iloilo for academic year 2009-2010.

Other awardees in the elementary level are Lorenzo Jose Baquiran of Jaro I Elementary School, Sharmaine Grande of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children, Magin Benedict Ferrer of St. Joseph School (Iloilo), Inc. Mary Beatrice Bagaforo of West Visayas State University-ILS, Jason Anthony Supena of Sto. Domingo Elementary School, Danelle Jeriene Soriano of Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School, Rae Dawn Vales of Cabatuan Central Elementary School, Rose Jade Eugenie Delgado of Colegio de San Jose and Mary Felnor Suarez of Oton Central Elementary School.

For the secondary level, the other awardees include Brian Michael Moses Mejorada of the Central Philippine University, Jeremiah Claudine Calacal of St. Joseph School, Jerenney Real of Colegio de San Jose, Stessi Marie Geganzo of Iloilo National High School, Paolo Lorenzo Tirador of PAREF-Westbridge School for Boys, Jerry Ian Leonida of University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo, Karl Francis Chan of Iloilo Scholastic Academy, Martin Erick Gumban of West Visayas State University-ILS and Estela Marie Lapastora of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children.

The search for the TOEP and TOSSS in Iloilo is a yearly undertaking of the Outstanding Students Circle of Iloilo in coordination with the DepEd. It aims among others to recognize student's academic excellence, leadership, and school or community involvement. (PIA)
