DTI monitors prices of flowers too

Kalibo, Aklan (29 October) -- Besides monitoring prices of manufactured goods being one of its mandates, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here will also be monitoring prices and supply of flowers.

Engr. Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr,. DTI-Aklan Provincial Director clarified however, that they would just be doing this for two weeks, so they would have a baseline data for next year.

Flowers will be much in demand this month's end with the country's celebration of All Saints Day November 1.

"We also monitored prices of candles, and we found out that there were no significant increase in prices, and supply is also sufficient," Director Cadena reported during the latest meeting of the Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council held at the conference room of the GRQG Memorial Building.

By November, Director Cadena said the DTI will also be monitoring prices of "Noche Buena" products with the onset of the Christmas season.

Christmas lights sold in Aklan's major stores are also being monitored by the DTI to find out if these have Import Commodity Clearance (ICC).

The DTI also reminded Aklanons to buy only Christmas lights manufactured since 2008.

Director Cadena said that so far, major outlets in Aklan are compliant with the regulations. (PIA)
