President Aquino will lead the inauguration of the four bridges along the Iloilo Circumferential Road, a P1.9 billion project envisioned to serve as a vital component of the road network in the Metro Iloilo area. The newly-constructed 14.18-km, four lane circumferential road also includes the construction of four bridges namely Iloilo Bridge 1, Mandurriao Bridge 1, Mandurriao Bridge II and the Jaro Bridge. President Aquino will conduct a drive through at the Jaro Bridge II in Brgy. Ungka in Jaro District where he will be joined by Senate President Franklin Drilon, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secrtetary Mar Roxas and Department of Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad. The President will then proceed to the Iloilo Business Park at Brgy. Old Airport in Mandurriao District for the inspection and briefing of the Iloilo Convention Center which is part of the effort to ensure the development and promotion of tourism not only in the city and province of Iloilo but in Western Visayas and other Visayas provinces. President Aquino is also set to make an inaugural drive through at the 2-km section of the proposed Senator Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. Avenue Road widening project at Brgy. San Rafael in Mandurriao District. The SBA Avenue is a 15.60 km road from Jct. General Luna Street, Iloilo City up to the Iloilo International Airport in Cabatuan. It serves as a gateway to Iloilo City from the Iloilo International Airport and connects Iloilo City to other towns of the province of Iloilo. About a hundred Iloilo bikers of different age groups will also conduct a drive-through simultaneous with that of the President along the bikers lane. President Aquino will then move to the nearby Esplanade for a program to be attended by an estimated crowd of 1,000 composed of national and local officials, residents, business sectors, project stakeholders and other guests. In a media briefing, Philippine Information Agency 6 Director Janet Mesa said President Aquino is expected at Brgy. Lanit in the district of Jaro in the afternoon of the same date for the inauguration of the Iloilo River Plains Subdivision Phase 1. He will inspect the completed housing units and will be briefed by National Housing Authority General Manager Atty. Chito Cruz about the project in a program that will be attended by the beneficiaries and other stakeholders According to the data obtained from NHA 6 some 1,000 units were already completed and 876 units were already awarded to beneficiaries who are informal settlers affected by the Iloilo River Plains Development, as of June 15, 2014.
