Iloilo City (13 March) -- The Regional Development Council, Region 6 (RDC 6), is scheduled to conduct the executive committee meeting in Sipalay on March 28, 2008.

This was learned by PIA from Ms. Estela Paredes, OIC-ARD of the National Economic and Development Authority here.

RDC 6, had many accomplishments in 2007, according to its chairman Governor Salvacion Z. Perez who is the governor of the province of Antique.

Perez said the Council played a vital role in the realization of major programs and projects such as the new Iloilo Airport and the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

"These programs would boost the twin thrusts of Region VI on agriculture and tourism development and strengthen its position in the Visayas region as tourism hub of the country," Perez said.

The RDC 6 chairman assured that RDC would continue to formulate policies and support development programs along the key areas of agro-tourism, poverty reduction and sustainable development to attain the Millennium Development Goals.

Meanwhile, the RDC Visayas Bulletin disclosed that RDC 6 has approved 54 resolutions. These resolutions strongly support the strategic thrusts identified in the Western Visayas Regional Development Plan for CY 2004-2010, the President's 10-Point Agenda and the Millennium Development Goals. (PIA)
