(074 01 W , VeSP4-J.ah The Municipality of Cabatuan is a recipient of P4,800,920 aid from the Economic Support Fund, National Assistance to Local Government Unit, Department of Public Works and Highways, Discretionary Fund of Congress- men and Provincid: id for Infrastructure projects from January, 1988 to date. Out of the said aid, the construction and concreting of roads had the biggest appropriation which amounted to P1,160,000. Two hundred thousand of which was for the concreting of Confesor Drive; P245,000 for the concreting of Mangano road and another P245,000 for Me Gines Interior road. For roan maintenance, year 1987 had P524,000 and another P524,000 for year 1988. Maintenance of Provincial road had amounted to P400,000. These totalled to P1,448,000. Barangay Baluyan received P250,000 for the construction of tneir mW+7.. purpose hall. Jelicuon Lusaya also received P250,000 for their multi-purpose center. The public market, its lower expansion site had a total budget of P421,000. The remaining amount was alloted for other public buildings. This includes the repair of the Municipal building with a budget of P7,000 and the amount of P22,000 was for the School Board Funds for some schools. This was stressed by Senator Agapito "Butz" Aquino in his speech delivered during the coronation program of the town fiesta queen on September 10 , at the community stage. Addressing a big crowd that jam-packed the auditorium, the Solon said, "The national government is implementing several agenda for our people." "However greater emphasis is placed on economic agenda in order to accelerate our march towards economic recovery." "All the agenda of our government will not be successfully implemented if our people will not extend their support," the bespectacled lawmaker further said. The president's brother-in-law also commented, "it is high time that all Filipinos break the walls that have separated them and work together for common cause.' Giving his speech a local angle, Senator Aquino told his audience, "I assure the people of Cabatuan of my personal support for the economic projects of the municipality, particularly the expansion of its public market." Maroma, senior board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo. The coronation night was also highlighted by the presence of the Binibining Filipinas '89, Sarah Jane Paez. "A Glimpse of Philippine Songs and Dances" was presented by the Glee Club as part of its Annual Christmas Presentation "Pasko'89." The different dances included: Sabong, Igorot Dance, Maglalatik, Bakya, Sayan sa Bangko, Surtido Cebuano and Suquin Saguin trained by the different female teachers of the Physical Education Health and Music Department. Other parts of the program included a Christmas medley, Creat- Occeno, managing editor fourth in Filipino Sports Writing and eighth in Filipino Feature Writing. The feats of the staffers earned for them a total of 27 points during the presscon last Nov. 2729 at Domingo Lacson National High School in Bacolod City, thus wining the fourth highest school Sarah Jane Paez who was also invited to grace the occasion delivered her speech to the Cabatuananons. Senator Butz Aquino and Miss Sarah Jane Paez crowned this year's Miss Cabatuan, Her majesty Marilyn Taboo. Other very important persons were present in the said occasion, in the persons of Hon. Simplicio Grino, governor of Iloilo; Mr.. Bobby Rodriguez, of the DYBQ and other town officials. ive dances and a Christmas tableau. There was also a lantern contest.
