Other winners were Christine Gil, 1-1, First runner-up; Soledad Caballero 2-2 and Susan May Farcon, 2-3, second runners-up. The Search was sponsored by the Physical Education, Health and Music Department of the school headed by Mrs. Evelina Artieda. Remedios Regidor, Social Studies teacher of the school was one of the two Social Studies teachers chosen to represent Region the VI in Integrated DECS Scholarship Training on ASEAN Studies at UP Diliman on Sept. 13- Nov. 16. RK L SCOUT Madonna Palmes, a senior student of the school was chosen as Model Girl Scout '89 in the Search during the Provincial Senior Planning Board Conference at the Iloilo Girl Scout Council. Palmes was also adjudged as Best in Talent and Best in Casual Wear. Miss Cabatuan Marilyn Tabao, a third year student of the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School, reigned as Miss Cabatuan '89 during the Coronation Program highlighting this year's town fiesta celebration. Tabao was proclaimed by Bobby Rodriguez, a top IBC TV 12 personnel, who graced the night together with Senator Agapito -Butz" Aquino, Binibining Pilipinas - Universe Zara Jane Paez, Hon. Robert "Bob" Maroma, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member and Gov. Simplicio Grins:), governor of the province of Iloilo. The members of the Royal Court included Princess Jarlyn Belarma, third year student of CNCHS, first princess; Princess Mary Grace Reguera, third year Nursing student of CPU, third princess; and Princess Salvacion Clementir, fourth year high school student of San Joaquin NCHS, fourth princess. rt~?J I N A W R UF ZK%E'3 H 0' P Josefa Navarro, and Rex Velarde Jr. Associate and Managing editors respectively of the school paper, The Glow, attended a three day Seminar Workshop on Basic Journalism at the Home Economics and Technology Building of the lloic, National High School on Sept. 12-14. The two, together with 43 other students from various Provincial and National High Schools from the different provinces of Panay attended lecture sessions and participated in several workshops. Six lecturers discussed different topics about National Security and Basic Journalism. The Commanding officer of the Civilian Military Operations Group dis- I cussed about National Security. Herbert Vego, editor of "The New Horizon" lectured on Column and Headline Writing. Rey Parreho, Regional Manager of the Philippine Information Agency lectured on Lead and News story Writing. Three other lecturers discussed the following topics: Headline Writing, Copyreading, Layouting, Feature Writing and Interview. The three-day seminar workshop was sponsored by the Philippine Information Agency. The regional batch was the second batch of students who attended the seminar workshop. The first the National High Schools' group was held on Aug. 30-Sept. 2. =namfinxa"" A Thanksgiving mass jointly sponsored by the school and the November born members of the faculty and staff was held in front of the Administration bldg. in the afternoon of Nov. 22. Fr. Tomas Terania, ass't parish Navarro tops cooking fest Josefa Navarro, a 4-1 student of the school won first place in Cooking Main Dish Contest during the 1989 Future Farmers of the Philippines-Future Homemakers of the Philippines Provincial Work Conference held at Dingle, Iloilo on Aug. 30. Navarro's entry in the Cooking Main Dish with Table Setting Contest was "Chicken Costa Brava." Her winning the contest earned for her the chance to represent the province in the Regional level in the coming Regional FFP-FAHP Work Conference which will be held in Washington, Aklan on Oct. 2. The conference which was hosted by the Dingle Agricultural and Technical College was attended by 17 delegations coming from various schools in the province of Iloilo. The school's delegation was composed of seven students from the FAHP school chapter and five from the FFP. With them were the Iwo delegation advisers, Virginia Carcel, Home Economics teacher and Catalina T. Lapastora, Agriculture teacher. The students who attended the conference were: Josefa Navarro, Jeannie Rose Leysa, Mary Ann Marquez, Giovanni Jardiolin, Joefer Occ0o, Nieves Burao, CaridadJardiolin, of the FFP; Jay Pueyo, Niera Guidoriagao, Ruby Umadhay, Rex Velarde, Jr. and Francisco Gonzaga III of the FFP. The theme of the conference was "Contributing to Manpower Development for Industrialization." The amount taken from the pure sap is considerably high although the amount of sap is not very lucrative considering the slowly drying up of stalks after harvest, priest officiated the mass attended by approximately 2,000 students and members of the faculty and staff of the school. The offertory 'during the mass was headed by the Novemberians where they gave symbolic offerings of bible, doves, rosary beads, school banner etc. After the mass, the blessing rites for the new building followed. The following day, the November born members of the faculty and staff offered a birthday treat to their colleagues Sixteen members of the Japanese Red Cross Society visited the school last July 27. Of the 16 members, 10 were students, 5 were teacher-sponsors and 1 was a staff-adviser. They had their courtesy call at the office of the mayor, Hon. Fidel Ahumada at the town hall and at the office of the Vocational School Administrator, Miss Lilia Fancubela at the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. The Japanese visitors were accorded a military parade and review in the morning of their arrival. In the afternoon, a cultural program in their honor was held. The show included Philippine folk dances: "Tinikling", "Carinosa." and Muslim Dance. Several Filipino songs were also sung. Their very own, Japanese Parasol Dance was also presented. This has been an annual celebration offered by the group. The Novemberians include: Nenita Pueyo (1), Ricardo Jordan (2), Daryl Villanueva (7). As a surprise number, the officers of the CNCHS Junior Red Cross Council presented the visitors with gifts which were Filipino products The 16 Japanese Red Cross members were : Students - Yuki Kayawari, Yoshimi Keneta, Sachie Hinoda, Hiroko Katano, Chieko Aratani, Komiko Hashimoto, Gen Takahashi, Shiro Takahashi, Tatsuyo Miyao, Tetsuyo Geneko, Teach- er - Sponsors - Mariko Uchida, Issei Sasaki, Mizufumi Yokoyama, Kenichi Nakamura, Tatsuro Fukumoto Staff - Adviser - Shigeyo Okuno. Mrs. Palmyra Hautea, administrator of the Philippine National Red Cross,lloilo Chapter expressed her heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the school personnel and students as well as the people of the town for the warm welcome given to the visitors.
