RECOGNITION DA Y PROGRAM Sunio to inspire honorees Remy Cornago-Sunio, the valedictorian of Class '74 will be the inspirational speaker during the Recognition Day Program of the school on April 2. The 39-year old alumna of the school is the second of the six children of the late Pacifico Cornago Sr. and the former Teresita Cadete. Her elder sister Larcy, also an alumna of the school, graduated salutatorian of Class '73. The inspirational speaker had demonstrated academic excellence during her student days. She graduated from Cabatuan Central Elementary School in 1970 as class salutatorian. She pursued her secondary education at Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School and graduated in 1974 as class valedictorian. She was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Secondary School Students in Iloilo for 1974. As such, she was honored by the Provincial Government of Iloilo headed by then Gov. Corrado J. Norada who launched the annual search for outstanding students in both public and private schools in the province and city of Iloilo. Gifted with intelligence, she passed two scholarship examinations: the National Science Development Board (now (DOST)), and the State Scholarship examinations. She waived the latter scholarship in favor of the Twelve colleges and universities in the city and province of Iloilo conducted career guidance on fourth year students of the school on February 20 and 21. The schools came to CNCHS upon the invitation of the Guidance Office of the school. To facilitate the smooth and fair hold­ing of the career guidance, the Guidance Of­fice scheduled a series of talks. Each school was allotted 30 minutes to talk to graduating students. On February 20, representatives of a new college in Iloilo City, the Iloilo College of Business and Computer, started the career talk. This was followed by the talk of an instructress from Cabalum. Western College. The third talk was given by the administra­tive officer of Systems Technology Institute. After a break, representatives from Com­puter College of the Visayas gave the last talk to end the morning session. The afternoon session was opened by a talk of a representative of De Paul College. This was followed by a talk of an instructor in Western Institute of Technology. Then came the turn of Association Computer Sys­ former. She pursued her college education in the University of San Agustin as a government scholar. She finished her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree in 1978. In the same year, she took and passed the licensure examination for chemists. To augment her education, she earned units in Master of Business Administration. Chemist Sunio joined government service as an employee of the Department of Science and Technology ((DOST)) that sponsored her college scholarship. At present, she is the Supervising Science Research Specialist of DOST Region VI based in Magsaysay Village, La Paz, Iloilo City. Remy is married to a brainy civil engineer, Victor P. Sunio, who placed sixth in the licensure examination for civil engineers. The couple has been blessed with four children: Verlen, Victor Jr., Monalisa and Varsolo. The family resides in San Vicente Village, Leganes, Iloilo. tems Institute. The talk of the guidance counselor of the University of San Agustin was given af­ter a break. This was followed by the talk of the representatives of St. Therese MTC Col­leges. The last talk was given by Dr. Victo­ria S. Primero, representing the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology. The next day, February 21, two schools were given an opportunity to conduct career guidance in the morning. The first talk was given by a representative of Janivay Poly­technic College. The final talk was delivered by an instructor from Interface Computer College. All the career guidance sessions 'were held in the extension of the shop building. The sessions were planned and coordinated by the Guidance Office, staffed by Miss Belem Huyo, Mrs. Milagros Azin, and Mrs. Nerissa Apelo. Every year, the school prepares a sched­ule of career guidance by different schools to guide the graduating students of the school on the choice of their career in life. PTA to award parents of honor graduates The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school will honor the parents of honor graduates during the graduation program on April 3. Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to parents of honor graduates by the officers of the PTA Board of Directors, headed by Mr. Pio R. Lujan, president and chairman of the Board. The recipients of the award will be led by Mr. and Mrs. Francisco Portilo (nee Lourdes Ceballos) whose daughter Beulah Grace will graduate valedictorian, and Mr. and Mrs. Pancho Madarico (nee Eliza Maaya) whose son Allan will graduate salutatorian. Other recipients of the award will be Mr. and Mrs. Rey Orate (nee Heide Alere) whose nephew Noel Jr. is first honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Juan Caballero (nee Victoria Moneva) whose daughter Juvi is second honorable mention; Mrs. Marietta Huesca - Sta. Rufina whose daughter Mary Can is third honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Melecio Angelo Sr. (nee Cecilia Billena) whose son Melecio Jr. is fourth honorable mention; Engr. and Mrs. Mario Gil (nee Ma. Pet Puertollano) whose son Kenneth is fifth honorable mention. Mr. and Mrs. Cornelio Beba (nee Flor Maganto) whose daughter Sophia is sixth honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Dionisio Bidaure (nee Francesca Leysa) whose daughter Jonah is seventh honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Fideme Sotelo (nee Cecilia Mainar) whose daughter Michelle is ninth honorable mention; Mr. & Mrs. Vivencio Ordoyo (nee Norma Redone) whose daughter Fatima is tenth honorable mention. The awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to parents of honor graduates has been an on-going program of CNCHS PTA. It aims not only to give due honor and recognition to parents whose children will graduate with flying colors but also to inspire other parents to help their children achieve academic excellence. The giving of the certificate has become one of the main features of the graduation program every year. The PTA Board of Directors is composed of Mr. Pio R. Lujan as president and chairman of the Board. Engr. Mario Gil is the vice president. Other members of the Board are Elena Mandarin,.
