( MARCH 1997 74GLOW)w One major school activity which is most awaited by students is the An­nual Intramural Meet. Every student anticipates the activity with over­whelming enthusiasm because the oc­casion provides both the students and the teachers the much-needed break in the humdrum of classroom activities. The Intramural Meet this year was held on September 18-19. The two-day athletic meet was opened by a parade of all participants around the major streets in the poblacion. A short pro­gram followed at the school stage. The championship crown during the Intramural Meet was clinched by the Seniors who earned a total of 249 OCTOBER 1996 One school activity which is char­acterized by pomp and pageantry is the annual celebration of the United Nations Week. The glitter of the oc­casion is seen during the Search for Miss United Nations. This school year, ten female stu­dents of the school vied for the title of Miss UN '96. The beauty pageant which chose the title holder was held in the community stage on October 24. Joanna Montano, III-1 student representing Brazil, got the nod of the judges to win the title of Miss UN points. Second over-all champion was the Juniors, with 105 points. Though neophytes, the Freshmen placed third, with 103 points. The Sophomores ranked fourth, with 90 points. The Seniors dominated almost all the ball games and athletics boys. Ricarte Solana of the Seniors emerged as the highest male individual point winner. Sophomore Maerine Cao was awarded as the highest female indi­vidual point winner. As usual, the annual Intramural Meet is managed by the Physical Edu­cation, Health, and Music department of the school, headed by Mrs. Evelina R. Artieda. '96. The members of her Court were Francis Gerlyn Tronco representing Mexico, first runner up; Irene Altes, Miss China, second runner up; Ma. Theresa Caspe, Miss Venezuela, third runner up; and Janice Tobias, Miss Puerto Rico, fourth runner up. Aside from the beauty pageant, the observance of UN Week '96 fea­tured contests on flag identification, essay writing, poster, slogan, bulle­tin board display, and quiz bee. The annual celebration of UN Week is spearheaded by the Social Studies department of the school headed by Mr. Dante Roldan.
