MARCH 1997 The Glow 31 entry in regional Science Fair held in Ibajay, Aklan. We are proud that we were not only good in academics but also excelled in vocationals skills. We amassed not wealth but medals in the FFP-FAHP chapter week celebration. The Future Homemakers, Rieza Velarde and Mary Can Sta. Rufina again excelled in FAHP contests. The former won in the stuffed toy making contest while the latter excelled in the extemporaneous speaking contest. The campus nightingale, Jinky Silorio, won the gold medal in vocal solo contest. The future farmers group showed their exemplary performance when Noel Tolentino, Jr., the president of the FFP, won first place in extemporaneous speaking contest. David Cabafial grabbed the first place in seed/weed identification and a sexual propagation contests. In prospectus making contest, Noel Tolentino, Jr. clinched the first place. Beulah Grace Portillo ranked second, and Allan Madarico placed third in the same contest. Sophia Beba placed third in compounding feed ration. David Cabaftal moved to the regional level of the weed/ seed identification contest. He placed third in the said contest. During the regional Statistical games held in West Visayas State University, the group of Allan Madarico, Noel Tolentino, Jr., Aldrin Acaba, and Kenneth Gil, as well as the group of Beulah Portillo, Juvi Caballero, Sophia Beba, and Jonah Bidaure ranked fourth. During the screening of the staffers of the Glow, our school paper, Noel Tolentino, Jr., Allan Madarico and Kenneth Gil were qualified. In the newly born twin of the school paper "Avg Sinag," the top three staffers were Sophia Beba, Beulah Portillo and Juvi Caballero. To increase the awareness of our people on the need to pay taxes promptly, the Tax Consciousness Week is held annually. During the Quiz bee on tax consciousness, Noel Tolentino, Jr. came out second place while Juvi Caballero ranked third. For the first time in the history of our school, the High School Day was observed. The activity was climaxed by the Search for MR. and MISS HIGH SCHOOL '95. The much-coveted titles were captured by our classmates. Alfie Labanero and Razel Mondia were crowned as MR. and MISS HIGH SCHOOL '95. Finally, our class produced two provincial and regional leaders. Noel Tolentino and Rieza Velarde were both elected as press relations officer of FFP and FAHP Provincial Organizations, respectively. The leadership potentials of the two were further recognized when Rieza Velarde was elected as Business Manager while Noel Tolentino, Jr. was elected press relations officer of their respective regional organizations. Our Intellectual Thirst Has Been Quenched "Make wisdom your provision for the journey from youth to old age, for it is a more certain support than all other possessions." To make ourselves more prepared for any emergency in life we attended a one-week training in First Aid sponsored by the Philippine National Red Cross at New Site, W.I.T., Iloilo City. There were 15 of our class who underwent the training. Luckily, three among the trainees who belong to our class became awardees, namely Rieza Velarde, Ma. Christine Amoto and Juvi Caballero who became Best JSI. After a month, the school celebrated the Nutrition Month and the Joint FFP-FAHP=FFP Trade Chapter Week. Our batch garnered several awards. For showing his expertise, Nestor Diaz outdid other contestants in poster making contest Rieza Velarde topped the Nutriquiz while Allan Madarico ranked second. In the essay contest, Juvi Caballero with her mighty pen garnered the first place. In the same month, the seniors were still on their way to grab honors and awards in the FFP­FAHP Chapter Week Celebration. Future Homemakers Marceline Algarve, Juvi Caballero and Michelle Sotelo made a 1-2-3 finish in the flower making with arrangement contest. The beauticians of our class, Mary Can Sta. Rufina, Juvi Caballero and Michelle Polido captured the top three places in facial make-up contest. Our future landscaper Danny John Robles grabbed the first place in dish gardening contest. The class' songbird Jinky Silorio took the coveted plum in vocal solo contest. On the otherhand, the FFP members of our class also made some striking achievements. Noel Tolentino, Jr., Beulah Grace Portillo, and Allan Madarico garnered the top prizes in prospectus making contest. Noel Tolentino, Jr. ranked second in fertilizer computation contest.
