CNCHS GOLDEN HARVEST sy 1996-1997 It is inspiring and gratifying to note that this school year, as in the past years, the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School reaped numerous honors-mostly academic in nature - in various contests of provincial, regional, and national magnitude. The following honors, awards, and commendations constitute the school's Golden Harvest for the school year 1996-1997. I - CNCHS, TOP PERFORMING S & T SCHOOL The Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School (CNCHS) is one of the more than 100 secondary schools in the Philippines, authorized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to maintain a Special Science Class. During the evaluation of the schools in the entire country, having a Special Science Class, CNCHS ranks one of the 20 top performing Sci­ence and Technology schools in the Philippines. For demonstrating excellence in Science and Technology education, CNCHS was awarded by DOST fifteen (15) computer units. COMBRONERO Outstanding FAHP Adviser, 1996 CNCHS FAHP - Outstanding School Chapter in Region VI CNCHS FFP - Outstanding School Chapter in Region VI, 1996 Outstanding Income - Generating Project in Region VI RIEZA VELARDE FAHP National Awardee FRITZ LLANORA FFP National Awardee III - REGIONAL STATISTICAL QUIZ The team of CNCHS composed of BEULAH GRACE PORTILLO, ALLAN MADARICO, and ARNIEL MALAGA ranked second. IV - PROVINCIAL MATH OLYMPIAD For individual contestants, LONERIE APELO ranked third while ALLAN MADARICO placed fourth. For the team category, the Level III team of the school composed of JORGE ABORDE, IRENE BETTINA PUEYO, and ARNIEL MALAGA gar­nered the silver medal. The school's Level IV team composed of ALLAN MADARICO, BEULAH GRACE PORTILLO, and KENNETH GIL ranked third. V - ILOILO INTEGRATED MEET Four female taekwando players of the school came out silver medalists: ALMA ROSANO, JADE DEATRAS, CORAZON PEREZ, and MONTESSA VEGA. ARVIN TRONCO 2nd Place, Table Tennis Boys (Single) NOEMI CABALLERO 2nd Place, English Declamation VI - GSP PROVINCIAL ENCAMPMENT MELINA MODELO was chosen "Outstanding Camper." The contingent of the school received three (3) awards: Best in Uniform, Best in Arts and Craft, and Best in Semaphore Signalling. Two passers, BEULAH GRACE PORTILLO and ALDRIN ACABA, can pursue a Bachelor's degree under the scholarship program. Five others -JUVI CABALLERO, SOPHIA BEBA, ROSALIE JORDAN, FATIMA ORDOYO, and OLIVER PALLADA - are qualified to take technical courses under the program. X - UPCAT PASSERS Sixteen graduating students of the school hurdled the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT). Four qualified to study in UP Diliman, Quezon City. They are BEULAH GRACE PORTILLO, ALLAN MADARICO, MICHELLE SOTELO, and JUVI CABALLERO Two of the qualifiers - NOEL TOLENTINO JR. and ALFIE LABANERO can study in UP Los Bai1os, Laguna NEIL PUGA may pursue his college degree in UP Baguio. Nine are qualified to study in UP-Visayas in Iloilo. They are MARY CAN STA. RUFINA, KENNETH GIL, MARCELINA ALGARNE, SOPHIA BEBA, JONAH BIDAURE, JOAN TABURNO, CHERYL TABARES, SHIRLY RIVERA, and MADONNA CELENDRO. XI - EXCELLENT CAT-1 INSTRUCTION During the evaluation of all CAT-I units in the third congressional district of Iloilo, the CAT-I Unit of CNCHS was rated Excellent in the category A of the Administrative and Tactical Inspection. For having an excellent CAT-I instruction, the school was awarded a trophy and a Certificate of Merit.
